An innocuous telephone call requesting assistance to transport a valuable painting, by
one Thomas Thomson, to Preston, Lancashire, from the delightful market town of Kirby Lonsdale did not sound an unreasonable request at the time.

Happily, it was possible to combine another visit to the fabulous locality when P V Dobson, Jaguar Agent at Levens Bridge, invited me to see the launch of the NEW Jaguar CF .

Having retrieved the afore said valuable painting, and stored it in a safe position on the wall of my office I pondered the best way to move it to Woking in the South of England. A bus, I thought, would be most cost effective, and it only took a day!The problem with this proposal was that the leg room on a bus is not good, particularly for such a long journey. The train was probably the next best bet, but I would need to renew my Senior Rail card and find plenty of bubble wrap to protect it during the journey. The car, on a cost effective basis, was a none starter!

So it was agreed I would travel by train to Buxton where I would be met and the handover would be made! Verily, it came to pass on Wednesday 16th April 2008 and the painting was, thankfully, delivered.

Impressed by the strength of Shonas argument he seeks advice from the person opposite!
