Mike and Shona's Visit to

The Big country
"Howdy Folks and welcome!"
28th August 2007
Well, here goes some scribblin' that's a little past due,
But I reckon I'm always a-thinkin' 'bout you.
I've been readin' the papers in my own little way,
And I see where you messed up my last birthday.
Through divine television I caught the dedication
And heard some tributes by a mighty swell nation.
Now that's a powerful nice shack you built on the hill;
But that's just like the Sooners, it gives them a thrill.
I never did nuthin' to cause all that fuss;
And sometimes, folks, I could almost cuss.
But, dern you, I love you, I guess it's my pride
That chokes me all up and hurts me inside.With apologises to Bill Rodgers

Mike wears his blue cap at a jaunty angle!
Stonyhurst College made Tom Brown's School days seem like a walk in the park

Longridge Fell, a great favorite of John Whalley

Shona, a great favorite of Mikes' and all of us!

Dunsop Bridge - The centre of the British Isles. .... Oh yes it is!
This is a favorite of H M Qeen Elizabeth II,
who has expressed a wish to retire here, to possibly run the Post Office for a while!

Looking towards The Fylde Coast at sunset
not a good time of day to take a photograph!
Looking towards the Fells from The Jubilee Tower
an observation platform from which the authorities can observe the coastline for
any illegal immigration activity or unsupervised and unauthorised cockle picking!

Bye Mike and Shona, thanks for calling and coma again, soon!
